Never Again Buffalo Wild Wings

The chain has lost me for now…

I consider myself a bit of a chicken wing connoisseur. In my youth, I got second in a wing eating competition, downing 72. Surprisingly, that didn’t kill my love for those little cluckers.

I don’t come close to 72 anymore. I’m generally good for 10–12. I’ve noticed that when I go to Buffalo Wild Wings, they just don’t sit well with me anymore, particularly the boneless variety.

I’ve been a customer for a long time, dating back to when they were called BW3. That always makes me wonder, what exactly is weck? I have to look it up every time.

Weck is a type of roll. Weck or wecken is a south German word for roll. It is also short for Kümmelweck, which is a kaiser roll topped with caraway and salt. You don’t find it in too many places outside of Buffalo, NY, where it is served as beef on weck.

But I digress. What about those wings? Generally, they taste great going down, but an hour later I’m paying the price. Not THAT way…just a general gross feeling. I don’t typically notice it with wings from other places. Perhaps it is the breading. Maybe it is the sauce.

My last visit was after my son’s baseball game. The kids are generally excited to head there. This last visit, we spent over 2 hours there, and it wasn’t because we were watching the big game. The service was atrocious. I got my first drink 40 minutes after sitting. Our order came out uneven and was wrong close to 8 ways. There were tables near us sitting uncleared for an hour.

I’m not saying I’ll never go back, but it is going to take me a while to give this chicken wing favorite another try. Has anyone else noticed the deterioration of the food and service at Buffalo Wild Wings?
